So where did it all begin?

I started my photography path back in 2014 joining the wedding photography industry.  Back then I was a Canon 5D shooter and over the years tried many types of camera strap systems from wrist straps, neck straps and even the double camera sling system!

The one thing that I found was that all of these custom straps were really expensive!  Later I moved over to the Fuji system and decided to purchase a rope strap for my X100F.  Again searching the net I found that these straps were really expensive considering their simple design.

So what did I do?  Well I designed and created my own rope camera straps.  I tested the market and advertised a few on the usual auction site, and to my surprise they started to sell!  From that moment my camera strap business began and has grown year on year.

I recently re-branded my store to “Woodgate Camera Straps” and added a beautiful line of leather straps.

For my leather straps I use both Horween Chromexcel and Horween Dublin Leather.

Chromexcel is the original pull-up leather; using time honored techniques and formulas that were developed nearly 100 years ago.  Chromexcel is still produced in the United States using a bark re-tannage from a proprietary recipe, and then genuine hot stuffed with their secret blend of natural oils and greases. Chromexcel is characterized by a rich pull-up in full aniline, hand rubbed finishes.  Made to this day with old world craftsmanship, modern Chromexcel carries on a long history of superior comfort and durability.

Horween Dublin is a full grain pure vegetable tanned leather, infused with a blend of oils and waxes then hot plated. Emphasizing a natural look with a heavy pull up. Dublin has a worn in look and feel.

My straps are carefully created and designed to be hard wearing and tough.  As you can see our straps are more than capable of carrying a large camera and lens, however to be on the safe side we only recommend using our straps with lighter film and mirrorless cameras.

We can not be held responsible for damage caused due to abuse or carrying heavy camera equipment.

If you are unsure if your camera is compatible then please simply send us a message and we will happily let you know.

My leather camera straps are made from either Horween Chromexcel or Horween Dublin leather which is soft, hard wearing and ages beautifully.  The Dublin has a rustic, worn in feel and look.

These straps are designed for cameras with a lug mount strap fitting (leica and Fuji for example).

All my straps are lovingly handmade to order in England.

All straps come with either chrome rivets, quality stitching and steel split rings.  Available in black and brown.

My rope camera straps are made with marine rope and a hand stitched leather end.  These straps are designed for cameras with a lug mount system (Leica and Fuji for example).

Each strap comes with leather camera body protectors which prevent scratches to your precious camera body.

We have a large range of neck and writ straps which are available in different colour combinations.
